Confirmation

This program is designed to prepare your child(ren) to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation. Students who have completed their preparation will receive the sacrament on September 6, 2025, at 4:30 PM.

If your child previously postponed their Confirmation preparation but is now seeking information on how to receive the sacrament, please contact Nick via email at [email protected].

 At least one parent/guardian must attend. Please bring your child for Safe Environment Training, unless they attend St. Joseph School.

Important: If your child does not participate in the required Safe Environment Training, you must complete the Safe Environment OPT OUT Form and submit it by Session #3 (October 20).

Candidates preparing for Confirmation in 2025 must sign up for a Confirmation Interview with Nick. At least one parent should attend with their child.

Before the interview, please ensure that your child has:

• Chosen a Confirmation Sponsor

• Selected a Confirmation Saint

• Completed the Confirmation Retreat Paperwork (please bring it to the interview if possible)

The Confirmation Retreat is an annual overnight retreat held at Gasper River Catholic Retreat Center in Bowling Green. This retreat takes place in August for candidates preparing to be confirmed later that month.

The Confirmation Retreat Team consists of high school and college-aged young people selected to plan and lead the retreat. The team meets throughout the summer to learn, prepare, and grow in faith before the retreat.

Due to a change in Bishop Medley’s schedule, the Confirmation Mass will now be celebrated on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at 4:30 PM at Holy Spirit, with the Bishop presiding.

Following the Mass, there is typically a small reception where candidates, sponsors, and families can gather to celebrate, enjoy light refreshments, and receive the Confirmation Certificate and a gift from the parish. Food and service for this reception are usually provided by donation.
