Social Concerns Committee

Knights of Columbus Fourth Degree

The Father Alexander Korte Assembly No 2331 fosters patriotism and provides color guards for religious and civic functions. Meets third Thursday of each month at 7:00 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus Hall. Contact Gabe Cabral, Faithful Navigator, 846-4845.

Knights of Columbus

A fraternal order of Catholic men that provides support for the Church and various charities. Meets second Tuesday of each month at the Knights of Columbus Hall. Contact Pete Wyzykowski, 782-8500.

Legion of Mary

Promotes the sanctification of members through prayer and active works for the glory of God through Mary and the Church, particularly through visiting hospitals, nursing homes, shut-ins, new parishioners, etc. Mary, Star of Evangelization, Presidium meets each Monday after 8:00 a.m. mass. St. Joseph's Cemetery Committee

Oversees the upkeep and maintenance of the Catholic cemetery located behind Fairview Cemetery off of Cemetery Road. To volunteer, or for information regarding a lot, contact Ray Grudzielanek, 842-3628.

St. Vincent De Paul Conference

The SVDP Conference offers many opportunities for service to people in need, with hours ranging from a few hours a month to 3 ½ hours a day once per week or once per month.  The Conference meets the second Monday of each month at 7:00 p.m. at Holy Spirit. St. Vincent De Paul Store

Provides emergency aid to the needy, such as food, clothing, utility payment assistance, etc., as well as the spiritual development of its members. On the first Sunday of each month, members of Society of St. Vincent de Paul collect money at the doors of the church for the needy of Bowling Green/Warren County. Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) Groups

Open Twelve-Step meeting on Mondays 7:00-8:30 p.m. Closed AA meeting on Fridays: 7:00-8:30 p.m. Call Mary 782-6054 for more information.

Alanon Group

Open Twelve-Step meeting for family members affected by the disease of alcoholism and/or drug abuse. Fridays, 7:00 - 8:00 p.m. Contact Mary 782-6054.

Transportation to Mass

Parishioners provide transportation to mass for those who are unable to drive. Want to volunteer? Need a ride? Contact Karen Lee, 843-9721; Joan Neighbors, Office Assistant, 842-7777.


Habitat for Humanity

Parishioners volunteer to help build houses. Carpenters, painters, helpers of all kinds work at the building site. Contact Charlie Gries, 782-0727.

Bloodmobile

In cooperation with the Red Cross, a blood drive is held twice a year at Holy Spirit and twice a year at the Knights of Columbus. Volunteers needed to help; donors needed to give blood! Contact Judy Dobernic, 781-4805.

Respect Life

Advocates for life issues, as directed by teachings of the Church, and encourages participation in local interfaith efforts. Contact Tom Parrott, 782-6777.

Jail Ministry

People willing to be trained to lead group prayer in jail on Sunday, 3-4 p.m. (women) and 6:30-7:30 p.m. (men). Contact Sheila Hardcastle, 782-1303 or Fr. Jerry Riney, 842-7777.

Interfaith M.E.A.L.S.

Volunteers from five churches take turns providing nourishing meals Saturdays at St. Joseph’s starting at 8:00 a.m. Holy Spirit parishioners volunteer about every six weeks. Contact Janie Pitcock, 799-6262.
