Catechetical Leadership Committee Holy Spirit parish provides catechetical programs for parishioners of all ages and stages of life—children, youth, and adults. These programs provide participants with the opportunity to grow spiritually, deepen their faith, and strengthen their relationship with God. Representatives from all parish catechetical programs and age groups in the parish meet eight times a year to identify needs, set goals and coordinate the lifelong catechesis in the parish. Contact Ginny French, chair, at 796-8788, Lori Lewis, Pastoral Associate or Carol Kunkel, Dir of Faith Formation, 842-7777. Parents, catechists, and the parish community are involved in preparing the children for the sacraments. A team helps plan and coordinate the parish celebrations, family retreats, and parent meetings. Contact Carol Kunkel, Dir of Faith Formation, 842-7777. Young children, ages 3-5, are led from the 9:30 a.m. mass to Room E in the parish center for Young Children’s Liturgy of the Word. The ‘Seeds” program is used, which talks about the Sunday gospel on their level. Stories are told, songs are sung, and prayers are shared. They return to mass to sit with their families for the Liturgy of the Eucharist. If you are interested in becoming a presider (adults) or a lector (youth/adults) contact Angie Kniery, 991-0190, or Carol Kunkel, Dir of Faith Formation, 842-7777. Children in grades one through three are led from the 9:30 a.m. mass to rooms A/B in the parish center for the Children’s Liturgy of the Word; scriptures are proclaimed and discussed; psalms and acclamations are sung; and the creed and general intercessions are prayed. They return to mass to sit with their families for the Liturgy of the Eucharist. If you are interested in becoming a presider (adults) or a lector (youth/adults) contact Angie Kniery, 991-0190, or Carol Kunkel, Director of Faith Formation, 842-7777. Many parent and teen volunteers help make our annual VBS (held in June) a fun and faith-filled experience for all! Crafts, stories, prayer, drama, games, music, singing, food and liturgy create memories and strengthen church community. For dates and times, or to volunteer, contact Lori Lewis, Pastoral Associate, 842-7777. Childcare is provided in the nursery located in the parish center during the 9:30 a.m. mass and as needed during catechetical/catechumenate sessions. Parents who use the nursery are expected to volunteer every other month. Childcare is also available during week for special meetings or programs and for special liturgies and events. Contact Carol Kunkel, Director of Faith Formation, 842-7777. This program for children 12 months through 4 years is held on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. during the Warren County school year. The children play, socialize and learn under caring supervision. For additional information contact Stephanie Browning through the office at 842-7777.
