Fr. Anthony Shonis grew up in the coal mining fields of northeastern Pennsylvania.  He was ordained a Roman Catholic priest for the Diocese of Owensboro, KY in 1971. In1980 he was appointed by Pope John Paul II to the faculty of the Pontifical College Josephinum as Director of Spiritual Formation for the School of Theology.  In 1986 Bishop McRaith appointed him to the faculty of Brescia University in Owensboro, KY where he was a lecturer in spirituality and Old Testament for 14 years.  In 2000 he was named Pastor of St. Joseph parish in Bowling Green, KY. For three years he was the associate pastor at St. Stephen Cathedral in Owensboro, KY.  For two years he was the associate pastor at St. Francis de Sales and Rosary Chapel Churches in Paducah, KY. It was while he was in Paducah, KY that he started “THE CATHOLIC JOURNEY”, “THE PURCHASE AREA CATHOLIC INSTITUTE”, “THE RANK AND FILE CATHOLIC” newsletter and his radio ministry.  In 2005 Father Shonis led a trip "In the Footsteps of St. Paul" to Greece and Turkey" and in 2008 will lead a trip to the Holy Land.  He is now the associate pastor at Holy Name of Jesus Parish, in Henderson, KY.
