Spirit I

The Spirit-I Scope of Work consists of the site rough grading, office, religious education, fellowship hall and kitchen spaces. Spirit I is the first planning, design, and construction phase that the Holy Spirit faith community is undertaking to build a new worship complex on property located on Smallhouse Road in Warren County, Kentucky across from Basil Griffin Park. This site has been named the “Parkside” as it is situated directly across from a large Warren County park. The Parkside Project Steering Committee (PPSC), the Parish, appointed entity charged with overseeing and expediting the project has worked with TORCH in the refinement process from the original Master Plan to develop the Spirit-I Building Plan. Refinements were made necessary due to budgetary constraints. Divided into two parts, the Spirit-I Building Plan is a document that determines the building requirements needed to support the actual design and construction. This document is viewed as the implementation vehicle that expresses the needs of the Parish as defined in the original Holy Spirit Master Plan. The Spirit-I Building Plan was originally issued March 24, 2008 and then re-issued in November 2008 as part of the Parkside Building Plan. These building plans can be viewed under the "Design Tab" on this web page.

Spirit II (the Church)

The Spirit-II Scope of Work consists of all final paving and grading, an entrance courtyard, piazza and Mary's garden areas, narthex, family and Cana rooms, nave, sanctuary, daily chapel, vestry areas, and music room. Spirit-II is the second design and construction phase, which will now be built concurrently in a phased manner with Spirit-I. On March 2, 2009 the Parish Council reaffirmed the decision made by our Church leadership last March 2008 to proceed in borrowing the necessary funds from local banks. This is in accordance with the Diocesan Administration Committee's approval and Bishop John McGrath's endorsement which was granted last April 2008. The approved "Not To Exceed" cost of the Church is $7.3MM. The total budgeted cost for both Spirit-I and Spirit-II is firmly established at $13.344MM. Monthly cost reports can be viewed under the "Cost Tab" on this webpage. The Spirit-II Scope of Work and building requirement details were issued as part of the Parkside Building Plan. The plan is to celebrate the Easter season in Spirit-I utilizing the new fellowship hall on April 4, 2010 and then to have a joyful Advent and Christmas season in the new Church that same year.

Stewardship

Our Catholic faith does not allow us to build Spirit-I and Spirit-II in a manner that is inconsistent with our principals and standards of respect for the environment and energy conservation practices. To this end, the Holy Spirit Catholic Church has endeavored to design, build and operate facilities that respect these faith tenets. Spirit-I and Spirit-II are separately registered as LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Projects with the United States Green Building Council(USGBC). The Spirit-I design has been reviewed by the USGBC and found to be supportive to become at least LEED certified in 2010. Spirit-II (The Church) as it is an extension of Spirit-I should also become certified in 2011. The Holy Spirit Catholic Church should become the first LEED certified Church in Kentucky and one of the very first in the Nation. We are very proud to be able to help lead the way to a Greener more energy efficient future.
