Whole Community Catechesis

What exactly is ECHO/Whole Community
Catechesis?
Whole community catechesis is an approach to
parish religious education through which youth
and adults as well as children are invited to
participate in faith formation programs
throughout the year. The entire community
thus becomes the focus of all we do in
catechesis.
The goal of ECHO is to develop households
of faith.
The goal of ECHO is to have all ages engaged
in some type of formational learning about
their faith. There will be opportunities for all
ages to be involved in intergenerational
activities, family-centered catechesis, small
group sessions, parish organizations/groups,
as well as resources available for family and
individual use. ECHO presumes a connection
with the assembly at weekend liturgies, the
font from which all catechesis flows in a parish.
ECHO is not program centered but community
centered. As baptized Christian Catholics our
main community event is the weekly call to
Eucharist. Nourished at the Table of the Lord,
we are given our marching orders to continue
the mission of Jesus as his disciples. |
